Zabba, a 12 pound brindle and white Shih Tzu, was bred to Scooter, a 5 1/2 pound Maltese. They have 6 Mal-Shi puppies, 1 girl and 5 boys, born October 30, 2009. We expect Zabba's Mal-tzu puppies to mature beween 8 and 12 pounds.
Mal-Tzu, Malt-Tzu, Mal-Shi, and Mal-Shih are all Maltese Shih Tzu mixes. Our are first generation Mal-Shi, the result of breeding a purebred Maltese to a purebred Shih Tzu. This generation has the least risk of health problems, due to Hybrid Vigor. They are generally mild to medium, or medium in activity level.
Mal-Tzu have a lush, soft, fairly straight, non-shedding coat. This coat is allergy-friendly, perfect for most people looking for the elusive hypo-allergenic dog. No dog is completely hypo-allergenic, but these do come close.
Zabba's Maltese Shih Tzu boys are pictured first:
