Shih Tzu Dogs and Puppies
Shih Tzu are wonderfully social dogs! When I became a groomer, over 20 years ago, I very rapidly grew to love these dogs because of this very friendly personality. They are fantastic with kids, very tolerant of clumsy handling. I always say that they "look at life through rose colored glasses." The purebred Shih Tzu, and the crosses that we breed with the Shih Tzu, have unsurpassed temperaments.
All Shih Tzus have a soft, silky, pettable coat, which is non-shedding, and quite well tolerated by most people with allergies.
Personality
On a range of 1-10, 10 being the most active (like a Jack Russel Terrier!), Shih Tzus will generally fall in the range of 2 to 6. Shih Tzus are medium in intelligence, generally housebroken in 4 to 6 weeks. They love everyone, children, your children's friends, the mailman, your neighbors, the vet, groomer, and the burglar!
Size and Colors
Shih Tzus vary in size, depending on the size of the parents. Some people separate the sizes, calling the very small Shih Tzu "Toys." "Toy" Shih Tzus average between 5 and 9 pounds. Average sized shih tzus mature between 9-14 pounds.
The most common colors of Shih Tzus are the gold and whites, and black and whites. We also work with solid black, and solid gold. And, we work with very rare colors, like chocolate, orange, red, silver brindle, and chocolate brindle. These colors come in both parti patterns, and solid color. Check out the colors below!
Most people imagine the "show" style of grooming, with the silky coat kept very long, dragging to the floor. In real life, though, most people keep their Shih Tzus trimmed, routinely every 6 to 12 weeks. below you'll see some of the different styles of grooming, and the different colors we work with. These are all our own dogs.

6-9 lbs: $700 for males, $800 for Females, plus shipping
8-11 lbs: $600 for males, $650 for females, plus shipping
9 lbs+: $575 for Males, $625 for Females, plus shipping
Add $150 when both parents are under 7 pounds.
Additional $150 for registered litters, when applicable.

We have worked for years, breeding shih tzus of a variety of colors. We have shih tzus that are typical colors, like black, white, cream, and apricot. We also have shih tzus that are the more rare solid colors, like chocolate, red, silver, cafe-au-lait, silver beige, and blue. And, we also work with the very rare "marked" shih tzu colors like sables (colored like an airedale terrier), parti's (colored like a holstein cow), and phantoms (colored like a doberman pinscher). Because we have an outstanding selection of the rare colors of shih tzus, we are able to produce fantastically marked mixes with our dogs. We continue to strive to produce all sizes of shih tzus in these rare colors.
