Margie, a little 5 pound Yorkshire Terrier, was bred to Tony, a chocolate and gold Toy Poodle male. They have 3 Yorki-Poo puppies, 2 girls and a boy, born August 17, 2009. We expect Margie's Yorkie Poodle mix puppies to mature between 5 and 8 pounds.
Yorkipoos, Yorkie-Poos, and Yorkie Poos are all Yorkshire Terrier Poodle mixes. This is a very popular dog, popular with women and with children, though once in the home, the Yorkipoo puppy will surely win the heart of Dad too! They are very comical, always thinking of the next game to play, the next thing to play with, the next object on the obstacle course (up on the couch, down to the floor, around the kitchen island, back up on the couch to poke at the kitty, and down the bedroom hall, and back again!) They will have you laughing, and wishing you had a second one to watch ping pong around the house. When it's time to settle down, they love a lap, and will snuggle there for hours.
Yorkie Poos are non-shedding, and a great choice for allergy sufferers. Their small size can help with the allergy situation, because smaller dogs carry fewer environmental allergens. Their coat, while soft and very silky, generally sheds dirt quite well, which also helps. Yorkipoos are generally quite intelligent (thanks to the Poodle) and eager to please. Housebreaking is typically done within 4 to 6 weeks of arrival in the new home, less time if the owner is consistent, firm, fair, and doles out praise as much as discipline. Yorkie Poos work well for treats (a yorkie thing) so treats should be part of any learning process with a Yorkipoo.
