Petunia, a beautiful 7 pound Maltese, was bred to Dion, one of our little Yorkie boys, 5 pounds. They have 5 Morkie puppies, 2 girls and 3 boys, born August 13, 2009. We expect Petunia's Yorkie-Maltese puppies to mature between 5 and 8 pounds. These pups have really nice coats. You'll not find a more expressive litter. The ears on these puppies are like radar
While the Yorkese is one of the smallest dogs we work with, they have amazingly big personalities. They are super friendly, bright and cheerful, fun loving, and comical. While playful, they also enjoy a warm lap too. They love kids, but the age of the children should be considered when choosing a Yorkie Maltese puppy. Smaller, younger children are better suited by puppies to mature closer to 9 pounds, than 6 pounds.
The Morkie has a non-shedding, very allergy friendly coat. It's soft and silky, far easier to care for the the coat of the purebred Maltese. Professional grooming should be planned every 4 to 8 weeks, depending on how much coat care you plan to give in between grooms. Twice weekly brushings will help greatly to keep the coat clean and matt-free.
