Dots, a small gold and white Shih Tzu (7 pounds), pictured here to the right, was bred to Bonkers, a very rare, ORANGE and white colored Shih Tzu male. They have 2 AKC registered Shih Tzu puppies, both girls, born February 16, 2008. Bonkers is pictured to the left, the puppies are pictured below. Beautiful colors! We expect Dot's Shih Tzu puppies to mature between 7 and 11 pounds.
Shih Tzu (yes, that's the plural!) are popular for good reason. This breed of dog is very social, very comical. They adore humane companionship. They enjoy playing with the kids, and they are not easily offended, so they even love playing with the littlest toddlers. This sunny attitude is wonderful - they love everyone, your kids, your kids friends, the neighbor next door, the UPS man, and the burglar too. They are generally mild to medium in activity level. They are a hoot to watch play by themselves, and better yet, to watch play with another Shih Tzu. They are very addicting, and many people have more than one. They come in quite a variety of colors - parti colors (dark color on white), solid colors, and some are ticked like Bonkers here.
Shih Tzu are non-shedding, well tolerated by folks with allergies. The traditional look of the Shih Tzu is with a long, flowing coat. Most people though, keep their Shih Tzu trimmed in a puppy cut, varying from as short as 1/2 to as long as about 2. The fluffier trims are beautiful and easy to care for.
Dot's Shih Tzu girls are below: Girl A is gold and white. You'll see her gold develop in the coming weeks. Girl B is a beautiful chocolate and white color. Beautiful puppies!
