Lulu, a goofy and cheerful Bichon Frise, 9 pounds, was bred to Bonkers, a 9 pound orange and white Shih Tzu. They have 2 Shi-Chon puppies, both boys, born August 31, 2009. We expect Lulu's Shih-Tzu-Bichon mix puppies to mature between 9 and 12 pounds.
Shi-Chon, Shih-Chon, Zu-Chon, Tzu-Chon, and Teddy Bears are all Shih Tzu Bichon Frise mixes. This mix is very similar to the Shih Poo, though just a bit more active in general. They are fun loving, extremely friendly and social. They tend to be mild to medium, or medium in activity level. They are average in intelligence, generally housebroken in 4 to 6 weeks. I think that consistency is very important in housebreaking. 9 week old puppies can certainly begin housebreaking in earnest. It's so easy to spoil such adorable puppies, which prolongs the housebreaking process.
The coats are amazing - very thick and wavy, with a subtle shine. This coat is non-shedding, and allergy friendly. Most people with mild or moderate allergies can tolerate this coat quite well. Professional grooms are suggested every 6 to 12 weeks. Longer and fluffier trims require more frequent grooms than short trims.
