Elsa, a 7 pound cream colore Toy Poodle, was bred to Casper, a 9 pound Bichon Frise. They have 2 Poo-Chon puppies, a girl and a boy, born August 31, 2009. We expect Elsa's Poodle Bichon mix puppies to mature between 8 and 10 pounds.

Poo-Chon, Poochon, and Poodle Bichons are all a mix of Poodle (of any size) and Bichon Frise. Size varies with the size of the Poodle. We like to produce puppies that will mature between 10 and 15 pounds, because this is a perfect size for kids - large enough to be fairly durable, yet small enough to fit in a lap comfortably. We do sometimes have Poochons that will mature smaller than this. PooChons, due to the Poodle influence, are very bright and easily trained. Generally, housebreaking is accomplished in 3 to 6 weeks (less if the owner is consistent, firm, and fair.) Due to the social nature of the Bichon, this mix is great with kids, and eager for attention from anyone.

Poochons are really well suited for folks with allergy issues. Both the Poodle and the Bichon have very curly coats, often considered the least likely to cause allergy issues. The mix generally has an even curlier coat, making it even better for most people with allergy problems. Do realize though, that there are some people that cannot tolerate any dog whatsoever, with allergies to the saliva as well as dander.
