Aimee, a pretty apricot colored Toy Poodle, was bred to Kaiser, a biscuit colored Pekingese, 9 pounds. They have one little Pekepoo puppy, a boy, born September 26, 2009. We expect this little guy to mature between 8 and 10 pounds.

When someone calls out of the blue, requesting a good natured, small dog, non-shedding, good with kids, and a good choice for a first time dog owner, we like to recommend two mixes, the Shih Poo and the Pekepoo. Both really fit the bill very well. Our Pekes are mild mannered (not all are, with other breeders), great with kids, patient, friendly, and sweet. Poodles are more active, though we choose non-hyper poodles, and the mix creates a dog that is sunny in disposition, forgiving, loving, and kind of goofy too. While this litter is small sized, they will be durable enough for kids.

Pekepoos are non-shedding, and most people with all but the very most serious allergies, will handle a pekepoo very well. Pekepoos, being non-shedding, as with all non-shedding dogs, require professional grooming, as the coat continues to grow longer, rather than falling out at a certain length. In fact, if you don't have your non-shedding dog groomed routinely, they will begin to lose coat as they get too warm. Figure 6 to 10 weeks between grooms, depending on the style trim you choose.
