Spree, a solid brindle colored Shih Tzu, was bred to Chief, one of our little Maltese boys. Chief is pictured here to the right. They have a litter of 5 Maltese Shih Tzu (aka Mal-Shi, Mal-Shih, or Mal-tzu) mix puppies, 3 girls and 2 boys born February 9, 2008. We expect these Malt-tzu puppies to mature between 7 and 10 pounds.
Mal-Shi are one of the non-shedding, allergy friendly mixes that we work with. This is a small mix, strongly resembling the Shih Tzu, with a notable difference in the length of the nose. The Mal-Shihs have a longer nose, and therefore are without the breathing difficulties of the purebred Shih Tzu. They can handle alot of outdoor fun, and love to play with the kids. The coat is non-shedding, and non-allergenic to all but the very worst allergy sufferers (some people just cannot tolerate any dog, due to allergies to dog saliva.) The typical temperament of our Mal-Tzu puppies is medium or mild to medium in activity level. Maltese are fun loving, generally medium in activity level. Most Shih Tzu are milder mannered - they love to play, but really love a lap too. This mix is average in intelligence, generally housebroken within 4 to 8 weeks - folks that are consistent in their training will find them relatively easy to housebreak. Folks that don't commit themselves to consistency will find housebreaking more difficult (as with ALL dogs.)
Spree's Mal-Shih girls are below: Two sables and one wild parti!
