Ribbon, an apricot Moyen Poodle, 25 pounds, was bred to Brutus, a black and cream colored Mini Labradoodle, 18 pounds. They have 8 Mini Labradoodle puppies, 2 boys and 6 girls, born July 6, 2009. We expect Ribbon's Miniature Labradoodle puppies to mature between 23 and 28 pounds. Quite an assortment of colors!

Mini Labradoodles have become quite popular in the last few years. People that grew up to love Labs enjoy the very social nature of the Labrador Retriever. These people may find that they cannot tolerate the allergens of the lab, or the large size of the lab. So, the Labradoodle satisfies them because the lab traits of a social nature, and the fun of the retrieving instinct, comes through in the Labradoodle. And, you get the bonus of increased trainability and intelligence from the Poodle. The Miniature size of these Labradoodles is pretty tough to breed. To begin, we began with typical labs, about 50 to 80 pounds. We bred these down to a Mini or Toy Poodle, to produce F1 Labradoodles to mature about 30 pounds. We have worked beyond that, breeding this size down again to Mini and Toy Poodles, producing F1B Labradoodles, which we breed with each other to produce the smaller sized Mini Labradoodles, maturing between 15 and 25 pounds, depending on the litter.

At any rate, these puppies are expected to vary a bit in the coat type, though most or all are likely to be strongly wavy to curly coated, well suited for people looking for a non-shedding dog. Some may perhaps have a less curly coat, and these will do well for people looking for a labradoodle that just doesn't shed much, to help keep cleaning to a minumum. Personalities in this litter should be goofy, friendly, and fun-loving, as both Ribbon and Brutus have personalities like this.
