Chleo, a black 18 pound large Mini Poodle, was bred to Maverick, a chocolate and gold phantom marked Cocker Spaniel. They have 5 Cockapoo puppies, 3 boys and 2 girls, born August 10, 2009. We expect Chleo's puppies to mature between 18 and 22 pounds. I'm really pleased with how the puppies have matured. Really nice coats, sound temperaments. I love the head structure and the ear carriage.

Cockapoos or Cocker Poos are a mix between a Poodle and a Cockapoo. We work with the First Generation Cockapoos, those produced by breeding a purebred Poodle to a purebred Cocker, for the most part, because they have the most reduced risk of health problems. They are also the most consistent in appearance, showing obvious similarities to both the Poodle and the Cocker Spaniel. Finally, we prefer the first generation Cockapoos because they have the most desireable temperaments - inheriting the social nature of the Cocker, and the intelligence of the Poodle.

Cockapoos are great with kids. They are somewhat larger than most of our mixes, very athletic, and quite durable. They are also very intelligent, and enjoy learning countless tricks. If you or your kids enjoy playing fetch with the dog, you'll be very happy with this mix, as both the Cocker and the Poodle are retrieving breeds, both being bred originally as a hunting dog. Cockapoos also do well hunting smaller birds like quail and pheasants.
