Since 1990 we have been breeding professionally. Prior to that we did breed dogs occasionally, back to 1986. Mike Gerold - He is dearly missed. A wonderful husband, father, partner, and best friend to Lucy and Adam, our Kennel Manager. I love you Mike. Mike passed on January 29, 2009, of a heart attack in his sleep. We are still learning to live life without him.
Hi, I'm Lucy Gerold and grew up showing Norwegian Elkhounds with my parents. I am also a Certified Master Groomer. We started raising dogs professionally because of the requests we had for healthy puppies from our grooming and boarding customers. We no longer groom (after 20 years of grooming, groomers pretty much fall apart physically) and we no longer board for the health of our dogs. We started professionally breeding Poodles and Shih Tzus by request from our customers.
We have 3 full time staff members, including myself. We also employ 6 part time employees as well. The kennel is located 100 feet from our home, and we are with our dogs 11 hours a day. We clean our kennels daily, every day, including weekends and holidays.

Shipping & Handling:
A $25 handling fee is charged per puppy, to all puppy sales to cover the expense of credit card handling, and accounting for all transactions.
If you are picking up your puppy locally, the following charges will apply for each puppy purchased: Sales Tax (6.875% for Minnesota residents), Handling ($25), Travel, if picking up the puppy in Minneapolis ($25). If you are picking up your puppy in Brainerd or Deerwood, no travel fee is charged. After hours pickup in Brainerd or Deerwood, is an additional $30. Normal pickup hours in Brainerd or Deerwood are between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm on weekdays. We can generally make arrangements to meet you after hours. It is very important that you be prompt about your appointment time. We have had trouble with this in the past, and if it continues, we will no longer be able to offer this service.
"Shipping Expenses" vary with the size of the dog, the destination, and the airline used. We will always prefer to send the puppy using a direct flight if possible. While this may be inconvenient, it is in the puppy's best interest. If your journey to an airport with a direct flight is more than 120 miles, we will attempt to book a flight for you to a closer airport, as long as the puppy is strong enough to handle the extra leg of the flight. By size, shipping estimates are below:
- Very small dog, under about 4 pounds: Airfare of $165 to $205, kennel ($25), health certificate ($35), handling ($25), travel to airport ($25) totals between $275 and $315ish, varies with destination (and airline). Rabies is an extra $10, if pup is over 12 weeks of age. You keep kennel.
- Small dog, between about 4 and 8 pounds: Airfare of $165 to $225, kennel ($25), health certificate ($35), handling ($25), travel to airport ($25) totals between $275 and $325ish, varies with destination (and airline). Rabies is an extra $10, if pup is over 12 weeks of age. You keep kennel.
- Medium dog, between about 8 and 15 pounds: Airfare of $195 to $225, kennel ($25), health certificate ($35+), handling ($25), travel to airport ($25) totals between $305 and $335ish, varies with destination (and airline). Rabies is an extra $10, if pup is over 12 weeks of age. You keep kennel.
- Larger dog, between 15 and 40 pounds: Airfare of $225 to $300, kennel ($90), health certificate ($35), handling ($25), travel to airport ($25) totals between $335 and $400ish, varies with destination. Rabies is an extra $10, if pup is over 12 weeks of age. A large part of the shipping expense here is the kennel, which is generally large enough for the adult dog. You keep kennel.
